In theory Audi’s 4wd supermini (or ‘high performance hatchback’ as they refer to it) should be a very impressive, capable piece of kit.
The S1 is essentially a production evolution of the limited edition A1 quattro and shares it’s name with the original fire spitting group B monster the SWB S1 sport Quattro. Our order was placed as soon as they became available!
231PS, 115bhp per litre, top of the A1 range…
…It’s a great looking little car but as with some of the journalists out there we were a little disappointed with it in standard form. It’s not slow but it feels slightly strangled in stock form, to quote Autocar “perhaps not as quick as expected”.
Of course that’s what we’re here for, our business is re-calibrating, re-designing and our aim is always to increase performance, make the vehicle more enjoyable, more responsive and allow it to work to its true potential.
The engine/turbocharger setup is shared with the MK7 Golf Gti, not the higher powered Golf R/S3 as is sometimes mistakenly referenced. Our R&D team have a wealth of knowledge and expertise with this engine, which allowed them to hit the ground running the minute our own S1 arrived. Following our strict testing process that includes extensive road and track use in a variety of climatic conditions around the world we’re pleased to announce the release of our Stage1 performance software for the

Stage2 R&D involves months of extensive beta testing on cars all over the globe; making sure the correct components are selected and the software is tuned specifically to maximise the efficiency of the uprated components.

Revo Stage 2 Performance software is flashed through the ODB-II port leaving the factory ECU intact. Combined with less restrictive exhaust and intake, more efficient cooling and airflow our Stage 2 software increases the peak power up to 350bhp* with well over 500Nm* of torque. Revo Stage 2 software optimizes the uprated hardware and ties it altogether to make the very most out of your upgrades. Giving you increased torque and power throughout the rev range without compromising driveability, smoothness or power delivery. Stage 2 has switchable performance mode options suitable for varying conditions and fuel quality. When using the SPS the performance mode can be switched in the car and an Anti-Theft mode can be selected and set.

Stage 3 performance software has been developed to suit our recommended hardware upgrade package. Extensive testing and experience with the 2.0TFSI engine showed that the GT series 3071R turbo is the perfect solution for a turbo upgrade, Revo software allowing the turbo to spool as quick as some of the lower spec. turbo’s sometimes used for this engine and giving huge improvements throughout the mid and top end. Tuning is adjustable and can be tailored to suit your needs. Stage 3 software is designed to be run with all of the bolt on hardware listed in the requirements and can be setup to work with a completely standard engine. For this software to run efficiently and reliably, a strict hardware build list must be adhered to. Furthermore, our SPS is highly recommended to guarantee optimal performance gains.

Stage 4 2.0TFSI Performance Software is designed for those customers that want the ultimate from their 2.0TFSI. Whilst Stage 3 software is designed to be run with all the bolt on hardware, Stage 4 is the next progression and has been developed to maximise the potential of cars running fully built engines with uprated valve-train. Stage 4 software is a full ‘Race’ map, giving performance levels that could embarrass most supercars. With an 8000rpm rev limit, a very wide range of adjustment Stage 4 software has a lot of flexibility allowing your car to be setup to suit your requirements accounting for race fuel and water meth if you choose to. It is also fully compatible with external boost controllers for those that really want to push things to the next level. Power/Torque output depends very much on the setup and specific hardware used.
